Fay Dorval Haupt acquired her first show dog, a Doberman Pinscher bitch, in 1967.  The bitch, Ch. Marks-Tey Shay became the top winning Doberman bitch in 1969 and in 1972 she made Fay the recipient of the DPCA Breeder of the Year award with her first litter which consisted of seven champions.

Breeding on a very limited basis under the prefix Mattappany, Fay has bred twenty-four US champions including three multiple all breed Best in Show winners.

Fay has been a licensed AKC judge since 1986.  She is currently approved to judge the Herding Group, the Working Group, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, and Best in Show.

Fay graduated cum laude from the University of Louisville where she received the award for outstanding scholastic average.  She obtained two M. A. degrees in Education.  In 1991 she retired from the Jefferson County Public School System where she taught Spanish in the program for the gifted for twenty-seven years.

Fay was born and raised in New York City.  She has lived in Beverly Hills, Santa Barbara, Scottsdale, and Houston.  In 1959 she moved to Kentucky which has been the home of her forefathers since 1788.  She currently resides in Louisville with her husband Gene who is also an AKC judge.

Fay is a director of The Louisville Kennel Club.  She is also Hospitality Chairmen for both Mid-Kentucky Kennel Club and Louisville Kennel Club.

Fay is honored to have been asked to judge the Kentuckiana Tartan Border Collie Club Specialty.
